Terredora di Paolo Fatica Contadina Taurasi 2014

Category:

Aglianico from Italy

Winemaker Notes

Ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose is pronounced and complex with notes of cherry, wild berries, spicy scents of violet and tobacco with a mineral accent. In the mouth it is elegant, smooth, velvety and intense with characteristic hints of plums, black cherries, black pepper and tar; full-bodied and austere with balanced tannins and acidity.

James Suckling – 93 Points

A brooding, yet well-aged Taurasi with lots of bark, Chinese herbal medicine and black mushrooms to the dried blackberries, tar and savory cocoa powder. The complete dryness of the sweet fruit, plus the firm, dusty tannins complement the complex palate. Lots of earthy, dark mushroom notes chime in at the finish, leaving a lingering, savory yet elegant aftertaste. Nothing plush nor opulent, but rather mature, traditional and reserved.

Food Pairing

Pairs well with all roast meat, fillet and rib-eye steaks, grilled lamb chops, game, spicy dishes, mushrooms, truffles and mature cheese, such as Provolone, Parmigiano Reggiano or Gorgonzola.
